Visual Storytelling - Visual Representations
Examples of my ability to use visual representations and/or storytelling to make key points and increase engagement.
This video was created for the team of a Developmentally Disabled child, to help them understand when he needs a 2:1 ratio and when he doesn’t. The challenge was to create a visual representation of the (current and future) individuals involved, while addressing the (potentially difficult) topic in a positive manner.
The graphics show important similarities between the child and his support team, while also differentiating him using another color (to ensure understanding). I used the turning motion to show harmony and co-regulation, a concept these team members frequently focus on in their work.
Here, is one module (Planning) of an Executive Functioning course. The door example provides visual storytelling to make the key point more relatable and memorable.
This video was created for children involved in Occupational Therapy, to help them learn why it’s important to set realistic goals. Using storytelling elements (a plot, character, conflict, and resolution) and a bit of silliness, we encourage the target audience to select appropriate goals for themselves.
